In this class, you will pick one challenge (from the three listed below) to complete during this session. Bring with you your Art Journal Stash plus any items listed in your selected challenge. We will be sharing our challenges with each other at the end of the class and Steven will help you with any techniques you might not be familiar with.
If you are missing any supplies, please contact the store well advance of the class to order whatever products you might need (and of course Steven will have his “stash” of supplies to share with you if you are missing anything).
Challenges (pick one):
- #1. Apply patterned underpaper or tissue, Cover with a thin coat of gesso, Use at least two rubber stamps, Add torn strips of book text, Add three collage elements, Add three colours of your choice, Make marks with white or black paint, Add a quote or phrase,
Add doodles in black or white or both, Add drips or splatters
- #2. Adhere any size squares of patterned paper, Add a thin coat of paint (any colour), Add texture paste with spatula/credit card, Add paint or colour spritz, Add travel ticket ephemera, Make marks using bubble wrap, Add Washi Tape fragments, Add focal quote, phrase or journaling, Add stamped image in ink or paint, Create border or frame around your page
- #3. Cover your page with face fragments, Add thin layers of coloured paint, Stamp text or patterns over your page, Add journaling, quote or phrase, Make marks with paint, inks or sprays, Add a focal image, Add Washi Tape or strips of patterned paper, Add colour through a stencil, Add Doodles, scribble or Zentangles, Finish with a white border
Art Journal Supplies Stash: art journal (any sketch book will do), white gesso, gel matte medium, acrylic paints, black permanent ink pad, artist’s paint brushes (various sizes), palette knife, selection of background stencils, water colour pencils, scissors, water colour paints, water colour crayons, black and white marker (Uniball Signo are the best), heat gun, background rubber stamps, old credit card or scrapper (something with a straight edge), baby wipes, paper towels, water mister, texture or molding paste, colour sprays.
